Sponsor an Empanada Lunch for Farmworkers!

While we encourage you to support your local food producers by visiting the farmers markets or joining CSA’s, it is likely that those in the United States are also benefiting from the labor of California farmworkers. California produces 1/3 of the nation’s vegetables, nearly 2/3 of its fruits and nuts and 90% of the strawberries grown in this country. While farmworkers have been laboring away since day one of the pandemic as essential workers, they are still almost completely excluded by government assistance programs.

The Empanadas for Farmworkers campaign was such a success that we will be expanding it to a monthly basis.

The first round of 70 lunches will be delivered to a farm determined by the Watsonville Campesino Appreciation Caravan on Saturday, June 13th.

The second round of lunches will be delivered to farmworkers and their families on Friday, June 26th at a farm location determined by ALAS, Ayudando Latinos a Sonar, in Half Moon Bay as part of their Fridays for Farmworkers program.

We are working with ALAS to schedule a third delivery date in July.

Cooking Demonstration and Dinner in Texas

In October Chef Diego Felix will be at Central Market doing a series of cooking demonstrations with dinner in Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and Plano, Texas. Exact dates to be confirmed!
