Winery Dinner, Gilroy CA

Chef Diego Felix and Dorcich Family Vineyards are partnering for a winery dinner at 5 p.m. July 25 at the Dorchich Winery (11775 Watsonville Rd.). There will be five courses and five wine pairings. Winemaker Alessio Carli will be in attendance. The menu will reflect a “journey to the terroir of the Uvas Valley with an Argentine perspective.” Each party will receive their own table (up to six guests per table) and the event will follow all recommended social distancing and safety guidelines. Cost is $125 per person or $110 for wine club members.

While we encourage you to support your local food producers by visiting the farmers markets or joining CSA’s, it is likely that those anywhere in the United States are also benefiting from the labor of California farmworkers. California produces 1/3 of the nation’s vegetables, nearly 2/3 of its fruits and nuts and 90% of the strawberries grown in this country. While farmworkers have been laboring away since day one of the pandemic as essential workers, they are still almost completely excluded by government assistance programs.

The Empanadas for Farmworkers campaign has been such a success that we will be expanding it to a monthly basis for as long as we can.

We have already delivered almost 200 lunches to farmworkers in Watsonville and Half Moon Bay in collaboration with the Watsonville Campesino Appreciation Caravan and ALAS, Ayudando Latinos a Sonar.

Our next upcoming delivery will be at a farm location determined by ALAS in Half Moon Bay on Friday, July 10th. We are planning two deliveries in August, one in Watsonville and another in HMB so please feel free to share this sponsorship opportunity with friends, family and neighbors so we can take at least 100 hot lunches to farmworkers directly in the fields this August.

Prices include FREE delivery to Santa Cruz area. (Live Oak, Capitola, and Soquel) All other areas incur a small delivery fee. On Saturdays we make rotating deliveries to Half Moon Bay, Monterey/Carmel and San Jose.
